Copywriting represents the content in your site and is one of the important components to any website because it directly effects your search engine placement as well as your site conversion rates. Copywriting goes hand in hand with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Goal Convertibility. If you have too much copy that's cluttered and not to the point...nobody stays at your site for too long because they can read a novel elsewhere. If you have too little copy but it's to the point, then you won't get a decent search engine ranking anywhere. You want to find the fine line between site copy that increases your site conversion rates and copy that increases your search engine visibility.

Search engine ranking is essentially the result of a website’s relevance (i.e. keywords) and importance (i.e. inbound links). So, in order to have good search engine rankings, you need to maintain keywords that are relevant to your site. For example, lets say you have a website that sells gourmet chocolates and you are writing your site copy. You want to use words like gourmet, chocolate, chocolate truffles, gourmet candy, etc. throughout your site's copy. You shouldn't spend too much time on describing how you started your business unless you want people to find you by searching keywords like: graduated from college in 1990, sons name is Brian, etc. This will help you maintain your relevant keywords and importance of your site. Having others link to you or your sites copy is also very important, so keep that in mind as well.
